Trusting the Unknown in Uncertain Times

“These are uncertain times.” This refrain has echoed throughout time as we continue to bear witness to the pain and suffering experienced in the world. There can be a myriad of reactions and responses. It can be so easy to get caught in the stories we’re telling ourselves, only to end up adding to the suffering, intentionally or unintentionally.

Amid the confusion of not knowing what to do, we want to know. We want answers. We speculate and guess, attempting to organize a storm of thoughts to avoid the discomfort of not knowing. In the willingness to be uncomfortable, we can gently bring the mind to a stop.

In this deep peace of silence, we free ourselves from the conflicts of wanting and not wanting, from all concern for any outcome. Resting here in the Unknown, what is essentially needed is revealed.

How quiet can you be? What is trustworthy in the midst of uncertainty? What is the truth? Where do you place your reliance?

These questions are the foundation of our exploration for this two-day retreat. Each meeting will begin with 15 minutes of silence.
